Gentleman Jack is Jack Daniel's in a fancy shmancy tux. It keeps the same charcoal-mellowed character. But it adds a silkier, cleaner finish. The difference looks small in the glass. You'll notice it as soon as you sip. It trades a little of the rugged charm that Jack Daniels is known for. In return, you get a smoother, sleeker pour that still feels like Lynchburg.
The secret is double mellowing. The whiskey drips through sugar maple charcoal before it goes into the barrel. After aging, it gets mellowed through charcoal a second time. That extra step softens the edges.
On the nose, Gentleman Jack opens with soft vanilla and warm caramel. A touch of honey and new oak comes next. The palate is light and sweet, with caramel and vanilla up front. A gentle hint of spice keeps the sweetness in check. The finish is soft and smooth, smoother than the usual Jack.
Fans often praise how silky it is while it still tastes like Jack. Once you give it a try, you'll likely want another bottle soon.
Gentleman Jack is Jack Daniel's with the shine turned up. It makes an excellent neat sip. It also mixes into plenty of tasty cocktails.
