This prestigious red wine hails from the Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina, specifically sourced from high-altitude estate vineyards in Paraje Altamira and Gualtallary. Named in honor of José Zuccardi, who led the family winery for decades, this label represents a "transition" in the estate's history moving from a traditional style toward a more refined, terroir-focused approach. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes the unique "mountain identity" of the Uco Valley, utilizing concrete fermentation and large oak foudres rather than small new barriques to ensure the fruit and mineral character remain the stars.
Wine Description
The José Zuccardi Malbec presents an intense, deep violet colour. The sensory profile is elegant and multi-dimensional, offering a complex bouquet of black plums, blackberries, and blueberries, layered with fresh herbal notes and subtle hints of spice and wet stones. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and powerful yet remarkably poised, featuring a chalky, mineral texture characteristic of the region's limestone-rich soils. It is characterized by vibrant acidity and firm, silky tannins that lead into a long, persistent finish. The wine was aged in large oak foudres and concrete vats to maintain its purity.
