Frequently asked
What is Golden Promise barley?
A heritage barley variety popularised in the 1960s-1970s — used historically by Macallan, Glenmorangie, and other prestigious distilleries. Lower-yielding than modern varieties, but valued for its distinctive flavour profile. Rare in modern whisky production.
How does Golden Promise differ from standard Yamazaki?
Golden Promise imparts a richer, more traditional grain character than modern high-yield barley varieties. A more "heritage" flavour foundation — closer to how Yamazaki might have tasted decades ago.
Is this collectible?
Yes — Tsukuriwake releases are limited, grain-experimental, and highly sought by Yamazaki collectors and heritage whisky enthusiasts. Retain original packaging.
