W.L. Weller C.Y.P.B. (“Craft Your Perfect Bourbon”) delivers a rare balance of approachability and depth—creamy, softly wheated, and full of honeyed oak and vanilla nuance. A modern cult bourbon born from fans’ collective vision, it captures the warmth and finesse that define Weller’s wheated legacy.
Origins & Craftsmanship
This expression stems from Buffalo Trace Distillery’s unique experiment inviting bourbon enthusiasts to “craft their perfect bourbon.” The majority selected a wheated mash bill aged around eight years in the heart of the rickhouse, bottled at 95 proof. Distilled in Frankfort, Kentucky, W.L. Weller C.Y.P.B. follows the same mash bill lineage as Pappy Van Winkle and other coveted Weller releases, substituting wheat for rye to create a smoother, rounder flavor. Each bottle exemplifies careful barrel selection, minimal filtration, and the distillery’s pursuit of balance between sweetness and oak maturity.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Butterscotch, honeycomb, and soft vanilla cream, accented by toasted oak and a trace of orange peel.
Palate: Silky and layered—white chocolate, caramel, and baking spice lead into gentle oak tannins and hints of almond toffee.
Finish: Lingering warmth with buttery sweetness and a final whisper of cinnamon and pecan wood.
