Tatuaje Café Cojonu 2006 Belicoso
Every three years, Pete Johnson releases a new vitola in his Cojonu series, and the 2006 blend remains one of the most sought-after entries in the lineup. Cojonu, Cuban slang for "ballsy," lives up to its name here: a dark, oily Ecuadorian Habano wrapper wraps around Nicaraguan binder and filler, delivering rich leather, cocoa, cinnamon, and black pepper layered over a deep tobacco core. Rolled at the My Father factory under Pepin Garcia's supervision, this is a cigar built to punch above the standard Tatuaje experience while staying balanced from first light to last.
Expect a smooth draw and an old-world, Cuban-esque character that unfolds gradually, opening with sweet, creamy notes on the cold draw before building into a fuller-bodied smoke with real complexity. The construction runs impeccable, with an oily, minimally veined wrapper and a burn that holds steady through the smoke, rewarding a slow pace and careful attention.
