Small Gully 'The Formula' Cabernet - Shiraz Blend originates from Australia, specifically from the Adelaide Plains subregion of South Australia. The winery was founded by vignerons Robert Bader and Darren Zimmermann, alongside winemaker Stephen Black. Currently operated by first- and second-generation members of the Black family, the estate sources fruit from vineyards where the Zimmermann family has produced grapes for nearly 85 years. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes a distinctive, bold, and intense style reflective of the Barossa tradition, characterized by meticulous vineyard management and low-yielding vines.
Wine Description
This red blend presents a rich and intense profile typical of the region's warm-climate style. The sensory profile is bold and layered, featuring deep aromas of blackberry, raspberry, and dark fruits. On the full-bodied palate, it delivers concentrated flavours of cocoa and dark cherry, often accompanied by herbaceous Cabernet notes that provide elegance and poise. The finish is long and persistent, supported by well-integrated, lush tannins that balance the wine's significant power.
Varietal Composition: A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.
ABV: Often high, recorded at 15.9% for recent vintages.
Stylistic Notes: Characterized by rich, fruit-forward intensity and a balance between the structure of Cabernet and the dark fruit depth of Shiraz.
Organic Status: While the winery emphasizes meticulous vineyard management, this specific range is typically noted under conventional viticulture.
