Introduction
This red wine originates from Italy, specifically from the Toscana IGT region in Tuscany. Produced by Agricola San Felice, the winery is part of a historic estate that includes the Antica Pieve San Felice in Pincis village near Castelnuovo Berardenga. While the estate has roots dating back centuries, it has been owned for more than 50 years by the Allianz Group, which has heavily invested in its vineyards and winemaking research. San Felice is recognized for its innovative spirit, particularly for its 'Vitiarium' experimental vineyard where it has spent decades researching and reviving forgotten indigenous Tuscan grape varieties.
Wine Description
San Felice Rosso displays a young but rich ruby red colour in the glass. The nose is aromatic and refreshing, offering scents of raspberry, cherry, and lavender. On the palate, the wine is fresh and juicy, featuring bright acidity and soft tannins that make it an harmonious and easy-drinking 'daily-wine'. It is characterized by its contemporary Tuscan style, delivering clear red fruit notes of cherry and raspberry. This blend is primarily composed of 80% Sangiovese, complemented by 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot. The ABV is typically 13%. While the estate follows sustainable viticulture practices, this specific bottling is not certified organic. The optimal drinking window is from release through five to six years.
