This prestigious sparkling wine originates from the Champagne region of France, specifically crafted from the renowned Grand Cru vineyards of the Côte des Blancs. Founded in 1849 by Pol Roger, the house remains a fiercely independent, family-run enterprise now managed by the fifth generation of his descendants. The winery is celebrated for its traditional philosophy, still employing a small team of manual riddlers a rarity in modern Champagne production to maintain the personal attention to detail that once captivated Sir Winston Churchill.
Wine Description
The 2016 Pol Roger Brut Vintage Blanc de Blanc displays a crystal-clear appearance with silvery tints and a delicate, persistent mousse. The bouquet is pure and direct, initially revealing fine minerality and white flowers before opening into complex aromas of grapefruit, candied lemon, and fresh croissants. On the palate, the wine is exceptionally fresh and crisp with a crunchy texture, featuring notes of citrus zest and toasted overtones balanced by a firm saline finish. This 100% Chardonnay cuvée is aged for six years in deep, cool cellars 33 metres below ground, resulting in a refined body and remarkable structural balance.
