92 points, Cigar Aficionado
The Oliva NUB 358 Cameroon stands as an ultra-compact yet remarkably nuanced vitola format within the NUB Cameroon range, masterfully engineered for time-conscious aficionados who refuse to compromise on flavour volume. Measuring 3¾ inches with a stout 58 ring gauge, this short Gordo format compresses a substantial quantity of aged long-filler tobaccos into a stocky frame. The reduced length and expanded girth allow the smoker to enter the blend's peak "sweet spot" immediately upon lighting, delivering a dense, cool-burning smoke with rich complexity in a condensed session.
The physical and tobacco specifications of this exact vitola are masterfully calculated to maintain an effortless draw and a smooth, cool burn across a 35-to-45-minute timeline. Encased in a genuine, toothy African Cameroon wrapper leaf renowned for its natural sweetness and spice, the cigar combines a sturdy Nicaraguan binder with a core of aged Nicaraguan long-fillers from Estelí and Jalapa. Hand-rolled by master torcedores at the TABOLISA factory in Estelí, this 3¾″ x 58 format guarantees high structural integrity, a straight burn line, and an evolving succession of sweet wood, toasted nut, and delicate spice notes.
