Michter's Sour Mash is a classic American whiskey that pays homage to traditional sour mash distillation methods. It begins with a grain mash that includes a portion of previously fermented mash, known as "sour mash," which helps regulate pH levels and contributes to the whiskey's consistency and flavor profile. This process adds depth and complexity to the final product. During distillation, Michter's Sour Mash undergoes careful attention to detail, including copper pot still distillation and precise temperature control, ensuring the retention of desirable flavors and aromas. The whiskey is then aged in charred oak barrels, allowing it to mature and develop its character over time. The result is a smooth and approachable whiskey with a balanced flavor profile. On the nose, you may detect notes of caramel, vanilla, and toasted oak, followed by hints of baking spices and dried fruit on the palate. Michter's Sour Mash is known for its rich and complex taste, making it a favorite among whiskey enthusiasts seeking a high-quality American whiskey experience.
