Maraska Williams Pear Brandy (also known as Viljamovka) is a prestigious fruit brandy, or eau-de-vie, produced by the historic Maraska Distillery in Zadar, Croatia. Founded in 1821, the distillery is world-renowned for its mastery of fruit distillation, particularly its Maraschino cherry liqueurs. This brandy is crafted exclusively from the Williams pear (known as the Bartlett pear in North America), prized for its intense aroma and juicy sweetness. To capture the pure essence of the fruit, the pears are fermented and then meticulously distilled using traditional copper stills, resulting in a spirit that is unaged and crystal clear.
Spirit Description
The brandy is colorless and clear, possessing a high-viscosity "oily" texture. On the nose, it is remarkably fragrant, offering an immediate and powerful burst of freshly sliced ripe pears, complemented by delicate floral undertones and a hint of dried apple. The palate is dry and sophisticated, delivering vibrant pear flavors that mimic the grit and sweetness of the fruit's skin. It maintains a silky mouthfeel with a subtle touch of baking spice and almond. The finish is crisp, clean, and elegantly lingering, leaving a refreshing fruit essence on the tongue.
