The Macanudo Sumatra Toro Box Pressed is the most complete expression of this new Macanudo core-line release. Handcrafted in Estelí, Nicaragua, the 6" x 50 Toro pairs an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with a U.S. Broadleaf binder and a filler blend of Dominican Piloto, Dominican Olor, Nicaraguan Condega, and Nicaraguan Estelí. It is a cigar that respects Macanudo’s heritage while clearly signaling that the brand is willing to speak to a more experienced palate.
The Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper is the soul of the cigar, bringing depth, aroma, and a more pronounced character than Macanudo’s classic Connecticut expressions. The Broadleaf binder adds body and quiet richness, while the Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers provide the balance and combustion needed to keep the blend composed. In the Toro, the tobaccos have room to open properly, revealing a refined progression of oak, dark wood, coffee, subtle sweetness, and measured spice.
What makes the Macanudo Sumatra Toro Box Pressed compelling is its restraint. It does not chase strength for attention. Instead, it delivers the kind of layered, medium-bodied experience that shows confidence in the tobacco itself. For smokers who want a premium box-pressed cigar with Macanudo’s polish but a deeper, more contemporary flavor profile, the Sumatra Toro is the vitola that best tells the story.
