The Fortaleza Añejo Tequila masterclass in artisanal aging, delivering luxurious layers of caramel, butterscotch, cooked agave, and soft spice. With a rich, oily texture and complex finish, it’s a contemplative sipper rather than a mere cocktail component.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Stone‑ground and stone‑oven‑cooked Jalisco agave is fermented in open‑air wood vats, double‑distilled in copper pots, and aged 18 months in American oak—preserving traditional tequila-making methods. Every step, from tahona crushing to hand‑blown bottles, honors five generations of the Sauza family’s legacy
Tasting Profile
Aroma & Flavor: Bold scents of caramel, vanilla, butterscotch, and cooked agave. Floral and fruit notes—pineapple, peach, orange blossom, nutmeg, and raisin—emerge with time
Taste & Texture: Thick and oily, buttery yet balanced. Rich flavors of toffee, butterscotch, citrus, hazelnut—supported by subtle spice and oak
Finish: Long, lingering, with dry spice notes of cinnamon and nutty warmth
Cocktail & Serving Uses
This añejo is built for sipping—neat or with a large ice cube, but its complexity also elevates spirit-forward cocktails like an Old Fashioned or Sazerac. Its nuanced sweetness also makes it a graceful pairing with dark chocolate or rich desserts.
