Brazil Cerrado coffee is world-renowned for its smooth, balanced profile and foundational place in classic espresso culture. Grown in the high-altitude tropical savanna of Minas Gerais, this coffee benefits from the region's predictable weather patterns, characterized by warm, rainy summers and dry, mild winters that provide ideal conditions for consistent, high-quality harvesting.
The key characteristics of Brazil Cerrado are:
Unique Terroir: Sourced from the Cerrado Mineiro region—the first coffee-growing area in Brazil to receive a protected Designation of Origin status—this coffee is cultivated at elevations ranging from 800 to 1200 metres. The stable environment and well-defined seasons allow the fruit to ripen uniformly on the tree.
Natural Processing: Processed using the traditional natural (dry) method, the coffee cherries are dried with the fruit intact on raised beds or patio terraces under the sun. This allows the natural sugars of the mucilage to seep directly into the bean, yielding a naturally low-acid cup with a heavy, syrupy mouthfeel and a rich, creamy body.
Flavour Profile: Loved for its comforting and approachable nature, Brazil Cerrado features a mild, well-rounded profile. Expect rich, dominant notes of toasted hazelnut, milk chocolate, and sweet brown sugar, complemented by a subtle background note of dried fruit and a clean, nutty finish.
Versatility & Espresso Anchor: Because of its low acidity and full-bodied sweetness, this coffee is exceptionally versatile. It delivers a rich, comforting cup when brewed with a drip machine or French press, and acts as a quintessential anchor for espresso blends, producing a thick, velvety crema.
