The Bourbon Enthusiast Gift Set is a ready-made present for the whiskey lover in your life. At its heart is a bottle of Three Chord Amplify Rye Whiskey. Extras in the box make tasting at home a little more fun. It is an easy pick for birthdays, holidays or a thank-you to a host.
Three Chord Amplify is a blend of straight rye whiskeys from Kentucky and Indiana. Steel Bending Spirits bottles it in Michigan. The mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. A three-year-old rye brings wood and spice. A younger rye adds fresh, grassy notes. It is bottled at 95 proof.
On the nose you will find classic rye grain with hints of black cherry. The palate is chewy and bold, with citrus peel, black pepper and mild clove. More black cherry shows up as it opens. The finish feels silky, with a mild and pleasant warmth.
Tasters at the Beverage Testing Institute scored it 93 points. That is a strong result for a young blended rye.
Sip it neat to taste the spice, or add one large cube to soften it. It also makes a sharp Manhattan or Old Fashioned. Serve it with grilled meats, aged cheeses or a rich chocolate dessert.
Longtime bourbon fans who want to try a spicier pour will enjoy the switch. Anyone who loves good whiskey and a nice presentation will be glad to open this box.
