Memphis refuses to play by the rules. B.R. Distilling Company essentially shredded the traditional blending playbook for this 2026 Special Reserve, wrestling nine wildly different finishing casks—ranging from Vino de Naranja to Winter Bock—into a single, beautifully chaotic bourbon. Most producers would balk at such an absurdly complicated blueprint. They completely ignored the typical boundaries. The resulting 119-proof liquid masterclass somehow finds profound harmony amidst the noise, proving that genuine ambition often breeds spectacular results.
Finding equilibrium across a sprawling canvas requires serious blending chops. Sourced from choice Kentucky and Tennessee stocks, these disparate components spent between five and nineteen years maturing in the dark before their final marrying process. You experience massive tectonic shifts in flavor. The younger barrels inject raw, vibrating energy into the blend, while the older nineteen-year cognac-finished whiskey lays down a heavy foundation of dark, resonant oak. It defies all those common pitfalls.
- Vino de Naranja and Winter Bock
- Cognac and Vanilla Cognac
- Madeira, Sherry, and Port
- Apricot Brandy
Grab a heavy glass and pay attention. Clocking in at a robust 119 proof without any filtration, the dense viscosity coats your copita with stubborn legs that hint at the immense weight within. This liquid keeps constantly morphing. Every single return trip to the rim uncovers another obscure layer of orchard fruit or toasted nut that somehow managed to hide from your palate just moments prior. It strictly demands your undivided focus.
