Frequently asked
Why is Blanton's significant?
Introduced 1984 as the world's first commercial single-barrel Bourbon. Prior to Blanton's, all Bourbons were "small batch" (blended from multiple barrels). Blanton's introduced the concept of single-barrel bottling — where each bottle comes from a specific individual cask with unique character. Revolutionised American whiskey category.
Who is Colonel Blanton?
Albert B. Blanton — Buffalo Trace Distillery master distiller from 1912 to 1953. His stewardship helped Buffalo Trace survive Prohibition (the distillery was allowed to continue for medicinal purposes). The Blanton's brand honours his legacy.
What are the horse stoppers?
Each Blanton's bottle has a small horse-topped stopper. There are 8 different collectible positions (letters B-L-A-N-T-O-N-S), each showing a horse in different racing sequence positions — from starting gate to finish line. Serious collectors seek to complete all 8 positions.
