The old American phrase "bib & tucker" meant your finest clothes. It was the outfit you saved for a wedding or a big night. Bib & Tucker borrowed that idea, along with a look inspired by the 1880s. The 6 Year Small Batch, which the brand calls The Classic Six, is its flagship.
This bourbon is aged in Tennessee for at least six years. It rests in new, No. 1 charred American white oak barrels. The mash is 70% corn, 26% rye and 4% malted barley. It is bottled at 92 proof, so it has some weight without feeling hot.
Vanilla and sweet hay come first on the nose. Sandalwood and mace add a warm, spicy edge. The palate enters smoothly and stays balanced, with a hint of pecan pie sweetness. Then a warm, rich spice builds. The finish lasts a long time and ends on the brand's signature chestnut note.
Judges have liked it too. The Tasting Panel gave it 96 points. It scored 94 points at the 2019 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. It also took a Gold Medal at the 2019 competition and a Platinum Medal at the 2023 ASCOT Awards.
Sip it neat to catch that chestnut finish. It also makes a smooth, rich Old Fashioned. Serve it with smoked meats or a slice of pecan pie.
