Depth from the Highlands of Mogotón
There’s a reason the Benavides Mogotón Maduro bears the name of a mountain. Cerro Mogotón, Nicaragua’s tallest peak, straddles the misty border with Honduras—an untouched highland where mineral-rich soil and cold nights shape the tobacco of legends. This cigar is forged from that kind of altitude-driven attitude. It doesn’t whisper. It resonates—a bassline of earth, smoke, and black coffee that hangs in the chest like a prayer.
Benavides is a family brand with deep roots in northern Nicaragua, and Mogotón Maduro is their flagship force. Cloaked in San Andrés darkness, it’s earthy but electric—like lava rock soaked in molasses. You don’t just smoke this cigar. You descend into it. The air changes. The light bends. And what begins as intensity gives way to revelation: the subtle sweetness of burnt sugar, the licorice twang of anise, and the grip of fine leather aged in volcanic silence.
Flavor Journey
First Third: Explodes with black pepper, espresso, and earthy grit; bold and unapologetic.
Second Third: Dark chocolate and burnt sugar emerge, woven through with leather and jalapeño husk.
Final Third: A slow fade into mineral notes, anise, and charred oak—dense, lingering, and clean.
Why It Belongs in Privada
This is not a crowd-pleaser—it’s a conviction. It’s a cigar that asks you to meet it halfway. The Mogotón Maduro isn't just strong, it’s structured, layered like the geological strata of the mountain it’s named for. And in the Privada universe, where rarity meets revelation, this cigar is a summit worth climbing. It represents the untapped boutique frontier—small-production, land-informed, intensely personal. A peak in a world of plateaus.
