The Barrell Cigar Blend Bourbon Whiskey is a bold, luxurious cask-strength bourbon designed specifically to stand alongside a fine cigar. Rich, layered, and intensely flavorful, it delivers dark fruit, caramelized sugar, tobacco spice, and lingering oak depth. Created as a limited annual release by Barrell Craft Spirits, it showcases the company’s mastery of blending and finishing—resulting in a whiskey that is powerful yet remarkably balanced.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Barrell Craft Spirits, founded in Louisville, Kentucky, is widely respected as one of the most innovative independent blenders in American whiskey. Rather than distilling its own spirit, the company selects and blends exceptional barrels from multiple distilleries to create distinctive small-batch releases.
-
Blend Composition
- A curated blend of straight bourbon whiskeys aged approximately 7.5 to 18 years.
-
Finishing Program
- The bourbon undergoes secondary maturation in a complex combination of specialty barrels:
- Madeira casks
- Armagnac casks
- Rum casks
- Hungarian oak barrels
These layered finishes add richness, fruit complexity, and subtle spice, creating a flavor profile that can stand up to the bold character of premium cigars.
-
Blending Philosophy
- Barrell’s approach focuses on building a whiskey with depth, sweetness, and spice balance, emphasizing complexity rather than single-barrel character.
-
Bottling Strength
- Bottled at cask strength (111.2 proof), preserving the whiskey’s full body and intensity.
-
Limited Release
- Produced in small annual batches, making it a sought-after bottle among bourbon collectors and cigar enthusiasts.
