Amaras Verde is a vibrant, contemporary expression of traditional Oaxacan mezcal designed to introduce a new generation of drinkers to artisanal agave spirits. Crafted from 8-year-old agave Espadín using ancestral methods, this high-quality mezcal respects Amarás' holistic "From seed to Sip" cycle, produced by mezcalero Doroteo Garcia in Tlacolula, Oaxaca. The agaves are slow-roasted in underground conical stone ovens using ocote, holm oak, and peppertree—cooking for approximately five days—before being tahona-crushed and fermented in 1,500-liter pine wood vats for 7 to 30 days depending on production season. Bottled at 42% ABV, the result is a spirit that balances authentic smoky complexity with vibrant approachability.
On the nose, gentle and sweet jasmine with herbal hints lead to intense smoky notes of cooked agave with small touches of spice on the palate, finishing with sweet caramel notes. The mezcal's flavor profile combines traditional earthiness with floral refinement—no harsh or overpowering smoke, but rather a carefully balanced expression that showcases the quality of the agave and the craft of its production. Notes of fresh herbs, citrus, and tropical fruit complement the foundational smokiness, creating a sophisticated and nuanced spirit.
Perfect for sipping neat to appreciate its full complexity, Amaras Verde is equally at home in creative cocktails—margaritas, palomas, and mezcal margaritas all benefit from its smoky versatility. This is mezcal for the curious drinker seeking authentic tradition with modern sensibility, a genuine gateway into the world of artisanal agave spirits that doesn't compromise on quality or character.
