The flagship Spanish red wine of Bodega Losada Vinos de Finca, La Bienquerida shows why El Bierzo is nowadays probably the most interesting of all Spanish wine regions.
A blend of Mencía and other red varieties, this single vineyard red wine from El Bierzo is produced from over 100-year-old vines - planted, to be precise, in the year 1906.
The harvest was carried out by hand. Once in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed and slightly crushed, after which they were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts.
After that, La Bienquerida 2019 was aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, 40% new and 60% 2nd year. Finally, the wine was gently clarified. It was neither cold stabilized nor fined before its bottling.
We suggest that you decant this remarkable Crianza red wine at the very least 30 minutes before drinking.
